Release by MHN 2005-09-15, MHN - MHN Launches Anger Self-Management Programs Telephonic and face-to-face offerings for court-ordered and voluntary participants leverage MHN`s extensive experience in behavioral health interventions.POINT RICHMOND, Calif., (PRWEB) September 14, 2005 -- Managed Health Network, Inc. (MHN), a subsidiary of Health Net, Inc. (NYSE: HNT), announced today that it launched a new Anger Self-Management Training Program in response to rising trends in domestic abuse and workplace violence. Designed to help participants take control of their angry outbursts, the new offering is available in two forms - a face-to-face classroom setting and a telephonic "virtual classroom" format. "More than 1.7 million violent acts are committed annually in the U.S. workplace, and 2 to 4 million American women are assaulted by a domestic partner every year," said MHN director of Clinical Programs, Stephen E. Dannenbaum, Ph.D. "MHN is well positioned to successfully address this problem by delivering both court-mandated and voluntary anger management programs." MHN’s anger management program builds upon the company’s recognized successes in behavioral health intervention. "MHN has over 25 years of experience in administering highly effective DUI programs," notes Dr. Dannenbaum. "Additionally, our flagship offering has always been the delivery of Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) that include anger and violence issues as well as other behavioral concerns that can occur at work or at home." Telephonic Anger Management Program The 12-hour program is conducted by certified anger management counselors and makes use of group interaction and high-quality multimedia instructional materials. It focuses on the most crucial aspects of anger management, known as the "Four As" - Awareness of triggers, Arousal control, Automatic thought control, and Action management. Face-to-face Anger Management Program The face-to-face program is delivered by OHS, a specialized behavioral health provider licensed by the California State Department of Alcohol and Drugs. The telephonic version is administered by Catalina Behavioral Health Services (CBHS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of MHN that provides high-quality mental health, chemical dependency and return-to-work programs. Other behavioral health solutions developed and delivered by MHN’s telephonic management group include EAP consultations, weight management programs, critical incident stress debriefings (CISDs) and return-to-work programs. “We believe our telephonic approach to behavioral health is unique in the industry,” says Dr. Dannenbaum. "Developing an individual’s self-management skills can foster improved job performance and safety in the workplace," Dr. Dannenbaum concludes.
